The Annual Conference of the Rues principales Foundation is a truly exceptional platform for discussion. Its guest speakers, from various organizations, share their professional experience and generate stimulating discussions, to the benefit of all participants. The theme chosen for each conference is always central to the concerns and preoccupations of the local people, interested in the problems of sustainable and concerted development.

The theme of the 24th Annual Rues principales Foundation Conference was "Winter Community Living". The one-day conference was an exceptional opportunity to discuss the need to assign more importance to winter from a local development perspective and the ways that we can take advantage, from a sustainable municipal socio-economic development angle, of all that winter has to offer.
This season has a significant impact on our pace of life and it is becoming increasingly pertinent to examine ways to improve design and placemaking so as to enhance the viability of our town centres throughout the winter. Speakers from here and from Sweden, Switzerland and Austria, shared their experiences with us and introduced us to ways of embracing this season and making life in our winter communities more enjoyable during the winter months.

The evening banquet was an opportunity to present a number of municipalities with the prestigious achievement awards and award of excellence, sponsored by the Rues principales Foundation and its partners.
Another town was awarded the 4 Aces of Concerted and Sustainable Development certification, a program implemented by the Rues principales Foundation and the Société d'Habitation du Québec. Other municipalities saw their certification renewed.
The Rues principales Foundation is proud to have the Société d'Habitation du Québec as its main partner for the conference.
