2011-10-18 - Ten municipalities rewarded for their revitalization work

The 24th edition of the Rues principales Foundation Annual Conference, held under the theme “Embracing winter!” was an opportunity to more thoroughly examine the winter season as a significant factor in the development and planning of our municipalities.

The work of 10 municipalities was also recognized through the presentation of achievement awards, the SHQ Award of Excellence and the granting of The 4 Aces of Concerted and Sustainable Development quality certification.

2010-10-28 - The Rues principales school is 20 years old!

For the past two decades, the Rues principales Foundation, in collaboration with Université Laval’s Faculty of Planning, Architecture and Visual Arts, has been offering a comprehensive training program in the physical and socio-economic revitalization of municipalities. Drawing on a proven strategy and multiple concrete examples, this training program helps develop an understanding of the real issues associated with revitalization.

Designed from the perspective of the sustainable and viable development of municipalities, these one-day training sessions are an opportunity to discuss and reflect on developing, planning and enhancing the hearts of our municipalities.

2010-10-28 - The Rues principales Foundation strengthens its ties with Vermont

In an effort to broaden its knowledge in the field of socio-economic revitalization of municipalities and to share its expertise with its Network member municipalities, the Rues principales Foundation will participate in an exchange seminar with a few Vermont towns in November. The goal of the seminar will be to discuss the different practices employed, observe outcomes that have been obtained on both sides of the border, discuss respective challenges and develop new ideas. The three-day seminar will thus be an opportunity to review the work being conducted in revitalization outside Québec.

Included in the seminar will be training as well as a tour of four towns that are in the process of revitalization, including Burlington and Montpelier, the capital of Vermont. This seminar represents a “Network” meeting, offered twice a year by the Rues principales Foundation to all Rues principales Network project coordinators in order to perfect their knowledge and be better equipped to perform their multiple duties and functions.

2009-10-14 - The 22nd Annual Rues principales Foundation Conference honours 10 Québec municipalities

The 22nd edition of the annual Rues principales Foundation Conference, attended by Mr. Laurent Lessard, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupation, was held under the theme of “Living downtown: Solutions that pay off!”. It was an opportunity to address the many issues involved with the well thought-out development and occupation of the hearts of municipalities, as well as the solutions that the municipalities apply to address the problematics of sustainable development.

2008-11-17 - The Rues principales Foundation in Belgium on an Exchange Mission

The Rues principales Foundation, a Québec not-for-profit agency active in socio-economic revitalization, recently travelled to Belgium to strengthen its ties of cooperation with the Association du Management de Centre-Ville (AMCV), a Belgium organization that addresses socio-economic revitalization throughout Europe and with which the  Rues principales Foundation has building a collaborative relationship since 1999. 2008-11-14 - An international certification of quality sustainable development

The Rues principales Foundation, a Québec not-for-profit agency active in socio-economic revitalization, and the Association du Management de Centre-Ville (AMCV), a Belgium agency working in socio-economic revitalization across Europe, jointly signed an agreement on mutual recognition of their quality certification aimed at creating an International Network of Towns and Cities of Excellence in the sustainable development and socio-economic revitalization of downtown areas. The Foundation's mission is to promote sustainable development based on the cultural, natural and socio-economic identity of each neighbourhood, town or village. Read

The Ministère du Développement Économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation (MDEIE) mandated the Rues principales Foundation to organize and encourage networking among the Sociétés de Développement Commercial (SDC) located outside of Montréal.
