Rimouski - Innovative public transit downtown
On Januaray 10, 2011, to improve the quality of public transit, notably for those who work downtown and students residing there or attending an educational instution in the area, the Ville de Rimouski introduced a complementary public transit service, using a minibus, called Citébus. Since then, in response to requests, an earlier morning departure and a route in the opposite direction have been added. Bus shelters acting as the junction point with the Citébus will also be installed. To finance the additionnal costs, the town was able to count on contributions from the Cégep de Rimouski, UQAR, the Phares school board, the CSSS Rimouski-Neigette and Tanguay, Telus and Desjardins. The Fondation Centre Ville Rimouski was a special partner of the town throughout the process.
